Osijek, Oct. 1, 2016. The financing of the international interdisciplinary scientific project titled Digitization of Heritage Librarian Funds: Our Necessity and Obligation is granted to the Chair in Library Science of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek’s Department of Cultural Studies, in its capacity as Project Incumbent. The project was applied to a thematic Open Call of the Digital Research Infrastructure for the Arts and Humanities (DARIAH-EU, http://www.dariah.eu/).

The project will be realized with the assistance of domestic partners (Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts’ Institute for Scientific and Artistic Work in Osijek, Academy of Arts in Osijek, City and University Library in Osijek and the Museum of Slavonia in Osijek), and foreign cooperation with the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Croats and the Franciscan Monastery in Subotica, Serbia, based upon a contract concluded earlier, will also be continued within the project. Thus, during July and August 2016, the students of the Chair in Library Science have processed and prepared select materials from the librarian funds of the Subotica Franciscan Monastery for the forthcoming digitization, under the guidance of their mentors and the Zagreb-based ACOS digitization service.

On that occasion, a well-attended Press Conference was convened in the premises of the Department of Cultural Studies on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 12:00 p. m. to raise public awareness on the character of this project.

The following speakers informed the audience on the project, its preliminary inventorization, catalogization, and classification phases that had been already accomplished, the October workshop series in Osijek (http://calenda.org/374502), digitization emphases of the select materials, presentation of the expected results at an International Conference (to be organized in Osijek in May 2017) and on an invitation to the meeting of the DARIAH-EU consortium in the Danish city of Aarhus, the 2017 European Capital of Culture:

The Press Conference was moderated by Assist. Prof. Tihomir Živić, Ph. D., President, Chair in Library Science of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek’s Department of Cultural Studies, Departmental Representative in the DARIAH-HR consortium (https://www.facebook.com/events/1285176721533778/).
