The University of Zagreb University Computing Centre (SRCE) s the central infrastructure institution that plans, develops and enhances e infrastructure and digital services for the needs of the academic and scientific community in Croatia and provides support for their use.

SRCE develops and maintains advanced computing, communication and data systems, as well as numerous national and university information systems and applications. SRCE is also the national Internet exchange centre and a centre for education and support in the application of information and communication technologies. Through its activities, SRCE promotes openness in science and education and ensures the interoperability and connectivity of national e infrastructure with European and global infrastructures through participation in numerous international projects.

We highlight some of the services and activities through which SRCE can contribute to and support the development of the DARIAH community:

DABAR (Digital Academic Archives and Repositories) is a national system that enables institutions from the academic and scientific community to establish and maintain reliable and interoperable institutional and thematic repositories in a simple and efficient way. The system supports the storage of a wide range of digital objects, including theses and dissertations, scientific publications, research data, multimedia and educational content, while promoting open access.

HRČAK (Portal of Croatian Scientific and Professional Journals) is the central portal that brings together Croatian scientific and professional open access journals in one place. It provides editorial boards and publishers with an online publishing platform, as well as tools that support the editorial workflow, including Open Journal Systems (OJS), Open Monograph Press (OMP), and JATS XML Converter Service.

PUH (Data Storage and Management) is a system that enables users from the academic and scientific community to temporarily store and share files, intended for specific needs related to research projects, e-learning and educational processes.

Open Science Support is a SRCE activity aimed at promoting the application of open science principles and the adoption of good practices in research data management through the development of educational materials and the organisation of webinars and workshops. Through this activity, SRCE is working on the establishment of the Croatian EOSC node and its inclusion in the EOSC Federation. SRCE also coordinates the Croatian Open Science Cloud initiative (HR-OOZ) and the national node of the Research Data Alliance (RDA).

VDC (Virtual Data Centres) provide institutions with computing, storage and network resources for building and operating their own virtual data centres, ensuring a high level of reliability, flexibility and scalability enabled by cloud computing. Advanced Computing provides computing resources for solving demanding computational challenges, including the Supek supercomputer, the Vrančić cloud resource, as well as platforms such as Jupyter, Galaxy and the Padobran virtual cluster, with the support of specialised experts and tailored educational workshops.

SRCE educational programmes include courses, workshops, webinars and other educational activities in the areas of information literacy, web technologies, programming, e learning, the use of artificial intelligence tools, as well as platforms and tools across the research lifecycle. Within the SRCE Academy, specialised programmes are delivered for employees of higher education and research institutions, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively use SRCE's resources, platforms, and information systems.
